Lounge Underfloor Heating

As the living room is usally the largest room in the house, it makes sense to install underfloor heating under your chosen floor covering. No matter what style you want, from carpet or tiles to laminate or engineered woods, we have an underfloor heating system suitable.

If you wish to use underfloor heating heating as your main primary source of heating then you must follow these basic guidelines, always cover at least 90% of your free floor space and always use a good quality floor insulation board, we reccomend using either our Heatstore XPS boards or our Heatstore tile backer boards.

When working out the size of the kit you require, it is always best to remove any fixed appliances like bookcases or units that dont have any air flow beneath them as they will only trap the heat rising and could potentially damage the heating cables.

Installing underfloor heating in your Living room or lounge is easy and a more cost effective solution to radiators.

Whether you decided on tiles, vinyl, carpet or wooden flooring underfloor heating can be installed with ease and at a cost much less than you would think! Without radiators taking up space your living room will seem more open and inviting and you will enjoy the luxurious feel of radiant heat rising from your floor.

Electric underfloor heating has no moving parts and is unlikey to malfunction during the lifetime of the system

Electric systems can be more expensive to run than water systems (depending on insulation of the property)

Electric systems are cheaper to install than warm water underfloor heating

Can normally be installed from an existing electrical supply

We have different underfloor heating systems for all flooring type ranging from 100w per meter electric heating mats for taking the chill off tiles,to 150w per meter underfloor heating which can to used as a primary heating source under tiles, vinyl or carpet to 200w per meter underfloor heating mats (our most powerfull system) which can be used in conservatories or other areas which require fast warm up times.  We also stock under laminate (underwood) systems which are suitable for laminate, engineered wood or solid wood floors.

You can install either electric underfloor heating or water underfloor heating - please see below for the pros and cons of both systems.

Water under floor systems can be quickly added to a living room that has existing radiators.  The pipework has to be installed in the concrete screed so this may require raising the floor height in existing rooms or can be easily fitted during the construction of a new extension.

Water systems can require maintainance over the lifetime of the system.

Water underfloor heating can be expensive to install, if gas installation work is required (new boiler) and new pipework needs to be installed to reach the area , then plumbing costs can mount up.

A system can be quickly installed using one of our single room underfloor heating water kits suitable for areas up to 24m2
For larger areas multi room kits or bespoke systems are available

Water underfloor heating is not as easy to install as electric underfloor heating - basic DIY skills may not be enough and the skills of a plumber and electrician will probably be required.

Gas is less expensive than electricity and therefore the system will be cheaper to run over the lifetime than an electric system - but this needs to be balanced with the likely higher installation costs

Electric underfloor heating can be added to any living room with an electrical supply.  Although a part P electrician will be required to make the final connections, the main part of the installation can be carried out with ease by any DIY'er.
